CHESTER, UK. June 25th, 2026 – The Hammond, one of the UK’s leading schools for Dance, Acting, and Musical Theatre, today announces the launch of The Stars Campaign – a new annual fundraising initiative offering the public the opportunity to sponsor a seat in the renowned Hammond Theatre. Funds raised will support the Hammond Scholarship Fund and help sustain all future productions.
The Stars Campaign invites supporters to “shine a light” on the next generation of performers and has been launched by Hammond Patron and acclaimed actress Tupele Dorgu. Tupele is well known for her role as Kelly Crabtree in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2004 to 2010.
It is hoped that the campaign will make a huge difference by allowing the public to contribute to a fund that transforms lives through education and opportunity, while also enabling the continued creation of high-quality productions.
One such life is Sam Stephens, a current beneficiary of The Hammond Scholarship Fund. Already having appeared in the West End production of The Lion King, they spoke about the life-changing impact of financial support:
“Without financial support from the scholarship fund, I would never have been able to fulfil my dream of performing on the stage. The Hammond gave me the chance to become who I always hoped I could be.”
The Hammond’s Principal, Jennifer Roscoe, emphasised the importance of the campaign:
“Without the generosity of our supporters, so many children would not be able to access the specialist training and outstanding education we offer here at The Hammond. The Stars Campaign ensures that talented young people—regardless of financial circumstances—have the chance to shine.”
The Hammond has a long history of nurturing world-class talent, including international screen icon Michelle Yeoh, whose journey began within its halls. The Stars Campaign continues this legacy by ensuring the school remains accessible to all gifted young performers, while sustaining the productions that lie at the heart of its creative life.
