A new survey has revealed how pets are shaping everyday decisions across the UK.

Research from Canine Natural Cures, specialists in natural health supplements for dogs, highlights the continued rise of the ‘fur baby’ trend, with many Brits now factoring their dogs into daily decisions and routines.

A survey of UK dog owners found that 64 per cent have changed plans because of their dog, whether that means skipping social events, cutting trips short, or reorganising their day-to-day lives.

The findings suggest that dogs are playing an increasingly central role in how people structure their time, reflecting the growing emotional bond between owners and their pets.

That bond is also reflected in how dogs are treated more broadly within the home. The research found that 61 per cent of owners celebrate their dog’s birthday, while 65 per cent say they frequently buy their dog a Christmas present.

The survey also explored what matters most to owners when choosing products for their dogs, revealing that just under 60 per cent prioritise natural ingredients, while not suprisingly 30 per cent say safety is their top concern.

By contrast, cost appears to be far less of a factor, with just 6 per cent selecting price as most important, and 63 per cent saying it matters least suggesting owners are increasingly willing to prioritise quality over cost when it comes to their pets.

Alongside this, nearly half of dog owners (46 per cent) say they worry about their dog’s health on a weekly basis or more, highlighting the level of care and attention now given to pet wellbeing.

Aisling Armitage, owner of Canine Natural Cures, said: “For a lot of people, their dog naturally becomes part of how they plan their day whether that’s social plans, travel, or daily routines. This reflects a wider trend where dogs are increasingly seen as part of the family rather than just pets.

We’re also seeing a much stronger focus on what goes into the products people choose, with owners prioritising natural, safe and effective options to support their dogs long-term.”
