Dr Salman Shahid champions multifaith unity and community fundraising at Salford charity dinner
SALFORD, GREATER MANCHESTER. November 3rd, 2026 – Dr Salman Shahid, doctor and community leader, attended and spoke at a charity dinner at the Church of the Ascension in Salford, highlighting the importance of multifaith cooperation, charitable giving and inclusive communities.

Hosted by Canon Falak Sher, the evening brought together people from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds in support of the church and its heating appeal, which aims to help keep the building warm and welcoming during winter.

Dr Shahid delivered a speech encouraging people to look beyond religious and cultural differences and recognise their shared responsibility to care for one another. He highlighted the contribution that community gatherings, volunteering and charitable support can make to strengthening relationships and helping people feel valued and included.

Dr Shahid said: “We do not need to share the same faith to care for one another. Whatever our beliefs or background, we can help create a community where everyone feels valued, supported and welcome.”

His contribution extended to encouraging wider public involvement through sharing photographs and a message of support following the event. He urged people to attend local community activities, volunteer their time and contribute whatever they could to charitable causes, including the Church of the Ascension’s heating appeal.

Reflecting on the evening, Dr Shahid said: “As a doctor and community leader, I have always championed multifaith and multicultural events. In a time when division can dominate the conversation, coming together, sharing a meal and supporting our neighbours carries a powerful message: we all belong, and we all have something to give.”

His participation reflects his commitment to community service, using his public voice to encourage mutual respect, support local charitable initiatives and bring people from different backgrounds together.

Dr Shahid thanked Canon Falak Sher, the organisers, artists, local businesses and attendees for their generosity and contribution to the evening. He encouraged continued support for the heating appeal and for community initiatives that welcome people across faith and cultural boundaries.
