RING Jewellers Launches ‘Tierra’ – The World’s Greenest Diamond Engagement Ring.
Brighton, UK. November 4th 2025 – As ethical and environmental awareness among consumers continues to reshape global industries, the jewellery world is undergoing a profound transformation. Brighton-based RING Jewellers has unveiled ‘Tierra’, a ground-breaking diamond engagement ring designed to set new standards in sustainability and responsible luxury.
While mining a single carat of natural diamond typically requires displacing around 250 tonnes of earth and burning large amounts of fossil fuels, the diamond in ‘Tierra’ is created in a laboratory using carbon captured directly from the atmosphere. This innovative process actually helps purify the air, leaving it cleaner than before.
What makes this stone even more exceptional is that it is produced using 100% renewable energy, making the diamond carbon negative. It represents a pivotal shift toward environmentally responsible craftsmanship within the fine jewellery sector.
The environmental cost of gold mining, including the use of mercury and cyanide, has long been a global concern. In response, RING Jewellers ensures that every ‘Tierra’ ring is made from 100% recycled gold, eliminating the need for new mining and preventing harmful chemical pollution.
The ring’s production also dramatically reduces transportation emissions. Whereas traditional jewellery materials often travel more than 16,000 miles from mine to market, ‘Tierra’ is crafted entirely within the UK.

Designed in Brighton, its diamond was created in the Cotswolds, and its recycled gold was refined and cast in Birmingham — a total journey of just over 300 miles, none of which involves air travel.

For every ‘Tierra’ ring sold, RING Jewellers will plant 100 trees through its partnership with the global reforestation charity One Tree Planted. This initiative helps restore critical ecosystems and supports long-term carbon offsetting efforts, further extending the ring’s environmental impact beyond its materials.
The name ‘Tierra’, meaning Earth in Spanish, reflects the project’s deep environmental ethos. Much of the world’s deforestation has occurred across South America, and the name serves as a tribute to those regions most affected by ecological loss.
With its carbon-negative diamond, recycled gold, local production, and reforestation initiative, ‘Tierra’ represents a holistic approach to ethical jewellery design. Every element, from concept to craftsmanship, has been developed with sustainability in mind, demonstrating that beauty and responsibility can coexist.
“With Tierra, we wanted to prove that fine jewellery can be both stunning and sustainable,” said a spokesperson for RING Jewellers. “This ring represents our belief that luxury should not come at the expense of the planet.”
