The World Reimagined and the Church of England join together to unite communities

LONDON, UK. January 9th 2026The World Reimagined is proud to announce the launch of the Triangle of Unity Learning Programme a pioneering national art and education initiative empowering young people to explore heritage, climate change, and global connections through creative learning.

Blending English, Geography, and Visual Arts, this innovative curriculum funded by the Church of England’s Racial Justice Unit responds to the Lament to Action report and delivers a rich cross-curricular programme linking students in the UK with peers in the Caribbean and West Africa. Through letter writing and art creations, pupils investigate identity, climate justice, and the legacy of Transatlantic Slavery.

This year, 960 students across the UK have taken part in the Triangle of Unity Learning Programme, marking a significant step towards deeper understanding and meaningful cultural exchange.

About the Programme
• English Module: Students initiate intergenerational letter exchanges with family members to explore their roots, traditions, and identity – culminating in a personal letter highlighting their family history.
• Geography Module: Using letters and art, students learn about their shared history and respond to the climate crisis by connecting with peers in Africa and the Caribbean; learning firsthand about the challenges faced by communities most affected by climate change.
• Art & Expression: Each year concludes with student-led public exhibitions showcasing letters, art, and reflections on globe sculptures, displayed at cathedral locations in Bristol, Bradford, London Southwark and Sheffield; reaching an estimated 800,000 people weekly.

Why It Matters
Triangle of Unity Learning Programme goes beyond the classroom to:
• Build literacy, heritage awareness, and climate consciousness.
• Support diverse voices and foster intergenerational dialogue.
• Unite communities and recognise shared history through storytelling and public art.
• Align with national CSR priorities in Diversity & Inclusion, Youth Development, and Cultural Engagement.

A Global Conversation
The project connects UK schools with classrooms across the Atlantic, deepening global understanding between students in the UK, Africa, and the Caribbean. Young Climate Change Ambassadors from around the world contribute through engaging video content, alongside creative educational resources such as The Story of Coffee, which explores the migration of food and culture.

Family Events
Hosted by cathedrals across the UK, each exhibition will be accompanied by a free family event featuring a vibrant programme of activities, including face painting, steel-band workshops, and hands-on craft making, creating an accessible and engaging experience for all.

Southwark Cathedral Collaboration
Southwark Cathedral will unveil a striking display of ten Globe sculptures on 7 January 2026, created by pupils from St Bede’s (Redhill) and Boutcher C of E Primary School. The artworks are the culmination of intergenerational and international conversations explored through The World Reimagined’s Triangle of Unity Learning Programme.

Each Globe captures the pupils’ reflections on heritage, identity, and our shared environment, offering powerful insights from the next generation. By amplifying young voices and their creative responses, The World Reimagined aims to strengthen community connection and promote

deeper understanding across the UK.

A special Triangle of Unity family event on 31 January 2026 will offer the final opportunity to view the Globes. This free, community-focused celebration will feature a puppet walkabout by artist Judith Hope, interactive steel-band workshops, and a hands-on craft-making stall, inviting families to engage creatively with the project’s themes.

About The World Reimagined
The World Reimagined is a pioneering UK charity dedicated to creating racial harmony and social cohesion through art and education. In its first phase, the organisation reached 3.5 million people nationwide through a programme exploring the history and legacy of transatlantic slavery, supported by £3 million in public, private, and community investment.

With Triangle of Unity, The World Reimagined continues its mission to connect communities, empower youth, and inspire collective action for a more equitable and sustainable future.

Reimagining the Atlantic Triangle
Triangle of Unity was created in response to a growing need to explore what the regions of the Atlantic Triangle represent today and how people can forge meaningful connections across them. The initiative builds on The World Reimagined’s 1st phase, which recognised the painful legacy of transatlantic enslavement, reimagining the Atlantic Triangle as a space of connection, creativity, and hope in the modern day.
