SLTCS launches government‑licensed, private car hire in Sri Lanka tailored for European travellers

HONG KONG. October 28th, 2025Sri Lanka Taxi Charter Service International Limited (SLTCS Ltd.) today unveils a private car-and-driver charter offering designed for travellers from Europe visiting Sri Lanka.

The service pairs guests with government-licensed Tourist Drivers and air-conditioned vehicles for flexible, point-to-point itineraries—an efficient way to reach World Heritage highlights and coastal towns without the uncertainties of public transport or ad-hoc hailing. Guests receive written quotes in advance and a driver and vehicle matched to their dates and group size.

“Building on our proven track record serving Japanese travelers, we are entering the United Kingdom market. By providing licensed tour drivers who meet the exacting standards of Japanese guests, we will make a trip to Sri Lanka exceptional.” Said a SLTCS spokesperson.

With English-speaking drivers as the standard option (and additional languages available on request), communication is straightforward for first-time visitors and families. On request, Japanese-speaking drivers can also be arranged.

Vehicle categories span sedans (1–3 travellers), standard vans (4–6) and big vans (6–9)—all private and air-conditioned—so couples, friend groups and multigenerational families can travel together in comfort. Child seats are available on request (please share age/height/weight when enquiring).

Booking is a simple three-step flow: (1) send an enquiry with dates, group size and interests; (2) receive a tailored itinerary proposal and a clear quote; (3) confirm to lock in a driver. Before departure, SLTCS shares the assigned driver’s name, vehicle details and contact—often via WhatsApp—so travellers can coordinate arrivals smoothly. Pick-ups can be arranged from Bandaranaike International Airport, Negombo, Colombo and other locations per itinerary.

Pricing is designed to be transparent. SLTCS publishes guidance that its charter rates aim to be at the lower end of the market and notes that, compared with arrangements made by major travel agencies, it targets around 30% lower prices for a similar level of service, with exact quotes confirmed for each itinerary.

Peak season runs from December to March, when driver and hotel demand concentrates; early enquiries are recommended. Due to current local demand, trips of three days or fewer are temporarily not accepted (please enquire for 4-day and longer charters).

Payments follow a two-part model for clarity and security. The Agency Service Fee (SLTCS’s handling fee) is paid by card and processed by a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. The Driver Fare is paid on site directly to the Driver, with LKR as the default settlement currency unless the traveller and Driver agree otherwise.

These roles reflect SLTCS’s position as an intermediary: the contract of carriage is formed directly between the traveller and the Driver; SLTCS does not hold or distribute driver remuneration. Cancellation terms for the Agency Service Fee are clear: up to 7 days before start—full refund; 2–6 days—non-refundable; from the day before / on the start date—no refund.

Beyond transfers, charters are about time-efficient sightseeing. Drivers assist with practical matters—tickets, rest stops, meal timing and route tweaks—to fit weather and energy levels on the day.

For deeper historical commentary where local rules require it, SLTCS can add a licensed site or national guide on request. For activity bookings (e.g., safaris, whale-watching, Ayurveda), the office recommends trusted partners and integrates them into a route, with tickets settled directly with each operator. Recent guest feedback highlights punctuality, careful driving and thoughtful route suggestions.

Corporate and business use are welcome. SLTCS provides receipts/invoices and can coordinate compact inspection routes or multi-city site visits; please mention any billing requirements when enquiring.

For arrivals late at night, the team will advise the safest, most practical plan based on driver hours and distance, such as an overnight near the airport or a direct transfer, and will note any price impact in the quote.
