LONDON, UK. February 3rd, 2026 – A UK-based safety knife manufacturer is launching a range of premium round-ended knives at the Spring Fair 2026 in an effort to reduce stabbing-related deaths and injuries.
Be Blunt’s flagship product is a set of four premium-grade round-tipped safer kitchen knives, available with elegant black Pakawood or rosewood handles.
This innovative approach to knife safety in the kitchen comes at a time of growing momentum for safer blades. The Let’s Be Blunt campaign, launched by Southport attack survivor Leanne Lucas in 2025, urges households, parents, and communities to swap pointed kitchen knives for blunt- or round-tipped alternatives as a practical step toward reducing knife crime.
The campaign emphasises everyday actions to prevent the impulsive use of sharp weapons, drawing parallels to past public health successes like seatbelt adoption and indoor smoking bans.
The signature round tip eliminates the sharp point found on traditional knives, while still providing full functionality for everyday kitchen tasks such as chopping, slicing, and dicing.
By removing the pointed end, the design significantly lowers the potential for impulsive misuse as a weapon and reduces the severity of accidental injuries, including avocado-related hand injuries.
Additionally, all the knives feature full tang construction, meaning the German Steel blade extends fully through the handle. This design has been proven to deliver exceptional durability and balance, ensuring no weak points even under heavy use.
Be Blunt isn’t just delivering practical solutions, however. For each safety knife set sold, the company makes a contribution to knife crime charities and community interest companies.
Following a series of high-profile knife crimes in London and throughout the UK, the demand for change has grown to unprecedented levels. Actor and activist Idris Elba suggested the use of dulled, round-tipped knives to help curb knife violence in 2025. It now appears his calls have been answered.
Recent statistics show that in the year ending June 2025, police recorded around 51,527 knife-enabled offences in England and Wales, with sharp instruments continuing to feature prominently in assaults and unlawful deaths.
Hospital admissions for assault by sharp objects stood at approximately 3,494 in 2024/25, yet thousands still require treatment each year, underscoring the need for preventive measures.
Be Blunt spokesperson Dominic Vanderstay said: “Our safety knives are safer alternatives to the pointed-tipped knives that most people use in their kitchens, but they’re just as effective.
“Too many lives are ended because a kitchen knife was an easily available weapon at a moment of crisis. I was determined to come up with a solution that doesn’t compromise food prep performance.
“We collaborated with professional chefs, testing a vast array of blade types and handle designs. Our goal was to create a high-performance safety knife that fundamentally addresses the safety risks posed by a traditional blade. Judging by the feedback we’ve received, I believe we’ve achieved that goal.”
The safety knife sets are available now at beblunt.co.uk, priced at £59.99 (black Pakawood) and £69.99 (rosewood).
Be Blunt encourages everyone to join the conversation and consider making the switch, as small changes in the kitchen can help save lives.
