Over 300 residents in Cheshire village to benefit from life-saving defibrillator

Beeston, Cheshire UK. December 8th 2025 – Residents of a local village will have access to a brand new lifesaver, after local property developer Eaton Homes installed the device on their Beeston Market estate.

The device will support over 84 homeowners currently living on the development, as well as those who will move into Phase 4, which includes an additional 9 homes, 3 apartments, and a new shop.

Additionally, residents currently residing in the village will be able to access the defibrillator in case of emergency, as well as builders and contractors on site to complete the estate.

The investment is part of Eaton Homes’ pledge to support the local communities that exist where they build, and comes alongside a brand new shop, which will also be accessible by village residents.

Project Manager Claudia Dickens explained why the defibrillator was such an important installation: “We understood the importance of having a defibrillator available for residents and our contractors and felt we needed to make that purchase. It’s a vital piece of equipment that could save a life. Knowing that it will remain in the community long after we leave the site makes this investment even more meaningful.”

The decision to install the equipment became even more significant following a health scare experienced by Micky, a long-standing and much-loved member of the Eaton Homes team who recently retired. Although the defibrillator was not used on him, his experience highlighted how crucial quick access to emergency support can be.

Earlier this year, Micky was diagnosed with coronary heart disease and angina — conditions that led to a triple heart bypass and a valve replacement.

“After a collapse, I later learned from my doctor that I’d suffered a minor heart attack,” he says. “It made me realise how important it is that anyone living or working in or around Beeston has immediate access to the right equipment and support should something similar happen to them.”

Claudia added: “When you’re working on a busy development, you quickly realise how many people rely on the site being a safe environment. Micky’s experience made us stop and think about what more we could do. Installing a defibrillator was an obvious decision – not only to give Micky confidence while he was still with us, but to reassure everyone else on site too.”

More than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the UK every year, and rapid access to a defibrillator can double or even triple survival chances. Eaton Homes says ensuring access for the Beeston community is part of its wider commitment to supporting the areas in which it builds.

“The community is at the heart of the area, and we feel strongly about supporting it wherever we can,” Claudia continued. “Having a defibrillator on-site now, and later accessible in the village, gives real peace of mind for the future.”
