Manchester Video Agency Nominated for Prestigious Industry Award

Manchester, UK. April 2nd, 2026 – Manchester-based creative studio Eight Engines has been shortlisted for Production Company of the Year at the Prolific North Champions Awards, capping off a strong period of transformation for the business.
The nomination recognises a standout few years for the company, which has repositioned itself from a traditional production outfit into a full creative partner for clients across the UK and around the world.

Led by creative director Jack Leigh, the Manchester team has taken on a more strategic role across projects, including a rebrand launch campaign for Project Solar, which involved working with Kevin McCloud.

The team has also recently completed a major shoot with Bureau Veritas, filming across Europe, Asia and South America, where Jack and several crew members were stranded for a month due to the ongoing war.

Rather than simply executing briefs, Eight Engines has pivoted their approach to projects, involving themselves earlier in the creative process in order to build genuine storytelling through their video work. It’s a change that creative director Jack Leigh thinks has allowed the company to create content that truly represents the businesses that they work with.

“Over the last couple of years we made a conscious decision to change how we worked with clients. We didn’t just want to be the team that turns up with a camera and films what’s there – we wanted to be involved earlier, bringing our creative and strategic thinking into the process to get better results.”

That shift has seen the company take on more ambitious projects, including international shoots and technically demanding productions, while also being more selective about the work it takes on.

Speaking on the shortlist, Leigh said: “We’re over the moon to be nominated. The last few years have been a real period of change for us. We’ve rebuilt the company, focused on building the right team, and pushed ourselves to do more ambitious work. Every member of the team is driven to grow and bring something new to each project, so to be recognised at this level genuinely means a lot.”

Leigh believes the company’s willingness to go beyond traditional production expectations has helped it stand out in a competitive market.

“Making great films is the baseline. What matters just as much is the experience for the client and the results we deliver.

We take on more responsibility than most, whether that’s managing complex logistics or delivering global projects at pace. We’re not just turning up and filming, we’re part of the process.”

The journey to this point has not been without challenges. The business made a deliberate decision to step away from projects where it could not add creative value, leading to a short-term dip while it repositioned.

However, the approach is now paying off, with the company working more closely with clients who trust it to play a bigger role in shaping creative direction.

The winners of the Prolific North Champions Awards will be announced at a ceremony held at Old Trafford on 14 May.
