Historic Jim’s Gym goes under the hammer with NCM in an exclusive auction.
Stourbridge, UK. December 4th 2025 – A true giant of British bodybuilding is closing its doors, and NCM is giving fans, collectors and serious weightlifters the chance to own a piece of its legacy.
Jim’s Gym on Chapel Street in Lye, known across the world as a training ground for champions, is set for a one-off auction following the retirement of founder and industry legend Jim Charles earlier this year. The gym has stood for more than six decades and has welcomed some of the biggest names in the sport.
The gym received the seal of approval from the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger while training champion bodybuilders, including Serge Nubret, Vince Taylor, John Brown, Bertil Fox, Ernie Taylor, Edward Kawak, Marlon Darton, Dave Johns, Will Willis, and Linval Miller. For many, Jim’s Gym was the beating heart of the UK bodybuilding scene, the place where careers began and reputations were built.
More than 100 lots of specialist equipment are now in an exclusive online auction, ready for their next workout. These are large scale, heavy duty machines built for serious athletes, including bench presses, squat racks, chest press machines, low row stations, free weights and more. All shaped by decades of training at the highest level.
Amy Rutherford, partnerships lead at NCM, said:
“This is a one-time opportunity to own equipment from one of the most respected bodybuilding gyms in the world. Whether you run a commercial gym, train professionally or simply want a standout piece of fitness history, you need to register for this auction.
We’re pleased to be working with Jim and his team to keep this equipment in use, with our circular reuse approach, helping it continue to train and maintain the next generation of champions.”
The auction ends 9 December from 1pm.
