VOXY Media House, a UK-based creative film production company, was tasked with creating a promotional film titled Deep Waters alongside a two-part On The Ground documentary series. Both projects were produced simultaneously, despite the fighters being based in separate locations during training camp.
The On The Ground series provides behind-the-scenes access to each camp, documenting daily routines and preparation. Filming took place in Alabama with Deontay Wilder and in London with Derek Chisora, offering two contrasting environments and training approaches.
The commercial, Deep Waters, was developed from a moment during the fighters’ Face Off, where retirement and life after boxing were discussed. Wilder even joked: “He’s in the retirement stage of his life. He’s trying to take me with him so we can go fishing.”
The concept involved placing both fighters together in a shared lakeside setting. Due to logistical constraints, this was not possible to achieve practically. With Wilder training in Alabama and Chisora in London, the production team developed an alternative approach.
Filming took place across both locations, with body doubles used for wide shots and each fighter captured individually on green screen within their respective camps. The scenes were then combined in post-production to create the appearance of a shared environment.

Ryan Connor, Co-Founder of VOXY Media House, said: “It’s always a privilege stepping inside a fighter’s camp. Not just to see how they train, but how they live day to day. Deontay is a unique character. Funny, cool, eccentric, but also one of the hardest workers I’ve come across.
“We went for dinner with him and his team, heard stories from his past, present and his plans for the future. Deonte also took us to see his statue in Tuscaloosa. You can see why he’s achieved what he has. Getting the best out of fighters comes down to creating an environment where they feel comfortable.
“That’s something me and Joe Mitchinson – Co Founder of Voxy Media House have built over the last 10 years working closely with the sports biggest names like Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury and many more.”
Following filming in the United States, the team returned to the UK to document Derek Chisora’s preparations in London.
This included time spent within his local community as well as access to recovery sessions and media obligations. The combined output presents two different perspectives in the lead-up to the fight, while the commercial piece brings both fighters into a single narrative setting through postproduction techniques.
The fight between Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder is scheduled to take place at The O2 Arena in London on Saturday, April 4.
