AI now shapes every stage of the UK recruitment process, new analysis finds

WILTSHIRE, UK. February 11th, 2026 – New insights released by a leading recruitment agency reveal how artificial intelligence has reshaped recruitment practices across the UK, with growing implications for both employers and jobseekers.

The findings by CMD Recruitment outline how AI-driven technologies are now embedded across multiple stages of the recruitment process, including CV screening, candidate sourcing, early-stage video interviews and predictive hiring analytics.

The shift reflects a wider industry move towards automation. Dan Barfoot, Operations Manager at CMD Recruitment said:

“Artificial intelligence is now a routine part of recruitment rather than a future concept. These insights show that while AI is helping employers streamline processes, it is also changing what candidates need to do to be recognised at the earliest stages of hiring.”

According to CMD Recruitment, AI-powered applicant tracking systems are now commonly used to screen CVs before they reach hiring managers.

These systems assess factors such as keyword relevance, role alignment and document structure to identify suitable candidates.

As a result, the way CVs are written and formatted is playing a greater role in determining whether candidates progress to the next stage of recruitment.

The insights also note a continued rise in the use of AI-led video interviews, particularly at early screening stages and within high-volume or entry-level recruitment.

Candidates are typically asked to record responses to pre-set questions, with AI tools analysing elements such as communication clarity and response structure.

While this approach allows employers to screen candidates more efficiently, reactions among jobseekers remain varied.

In addition, CMD Recruitment reports an increase in the use of predictive hiring tools designed to analyse historical workforce data and estimate outcomes such as employee retention.

Candidate sourcing methods are also changing as AI tools are increasingly used to scan professional platforms and online databases to identify potential candidates, including those not actively applying for roles.

As a result, maintaining accurate and up-to-date online professional profiles has become more significant for jobseekers seeking to remain visible to recruiters.

The release highlights that AI is primarily being used to reduce administrative tasks rather than replace human decision-making. However, CMD Recruitment warns that candidates who do not adapt to these changes through their CVs and professional profiles are at a disadvantage as recruitment processes continue to evolve.
