DERBYSHIRE, UK. November 11th, 2025 – GCS Group is celebrating the success of TrustMed, the on-site pharmacy at Leicester Royal Infirmary, which has been named Hospital Pharmacy of the Year at the Pharmacy Business Awards 2025. The pharmacy operates within modular buildings designed, supplied and installed by GCS Group.
When Leicester Royal Infirmary required additional facilities to support its expanding pharmacy operations, GCS Group was commissioned to deliver a modular solution that could be completed efficiently within a live hospital environment. The project included two purpose-built buildings: one to house a new robotic dispensing system and another to provide a dedicated waiting area for staff and visitors.
Each structure was designed and manufactured off-site to healthcare standards, then installed with minimal disruption to hospital services. The facilities were completed on time and tailored precisely to the hospital’s operational needs.
Jeff Howarth, Project Manager at University Hospitals Leicester, said: “GCS Group were responsible for the supply of two new modular healthcare buildings to facilitate a waiting area and a space for a new robot. We looked at several alternative suppliers but chose GCS on cost and quality.”
The buildings have since supported the work of the award-winning TrustMed team, whose national recognition highlights the value of creating high-quality, compliant and efficient healthcare environments.
Gary Sheppard, Managing Director of GCS Group, said: “We’re proud to have supported Leicester Royal Infirmary and TrustMed with modular facilities that met their needs for quality, functionality and timescale. Seeing their team go on to receive national recognition is a fantastic result.”
The project showcases the benefits of modular construction within healthcare, providing rapid delivery, reduced disruption, and long-term adaptability. By combining innovation with practical design, GCS Group continues to deliver modular solutions that enable hospitals and healthcare providers to meet growing demand efficiently and sustainably.
