Chelmsford, UK. September 17th 2025 – ITS Chelmsford proudly hosted a Free Tool Marking Event to support local tradespeople in protecting their livelihoods from the rising threat of tool theft. The initiative offered attendees a free SelectaDNA Tool Marking Kit (worth £60), a police-endorsed product designed to help trace stolen tools back to their rightful owners.
The event was held in partnership with Stolen Tools UK, the fast-growing social media campaign dedicated to fighting tool theft, and was strongly supported by Shoib Anwan (“The Gas Expert”), a key voice in raising awareness on the issue nationwide.
Shoib has been instrumental in challenging stolen tool sales at car boot markets and driving parliamentary-level conversations about tackling tool theft.
SelectaDNA’s advanced marking technology uses a unique DNA liquid that provides undeniable proof of ownership, significantly increasing the chances of recovery if tools are stolen. The initiative represents a practical step in empowering local tradespeople to protect their equipment.
On the day, representatives from Essex Police attended, showing their support for the campaign and underlining the importance of preventative measures in reducing crime.
