East Riding Of Yorkshire, UK 30th June 2025 – A UK-based horse racing analysis group, led by professional punter James Atkinson, has reported over £50 million in profit from bookmakers across the UK and Ireland over the last 12 months.

Atkinson, along with his rapidly growing betting platform, Race Reads, has drawn attention for the scale and structure of his success, using disciplined market analysis, data-driven race selection, and an expanding subscriber base of over 4,000 monthly members.

“James built an entire university of punting wisdom and it works,” said one Race Reads member. “Most tipsters can’t tell you how many furlongs are in a mile.” They added.

According to multiple members, when Atkinson issues his race selections, market prices react within minutes. In some cases, odds have reportedly halved, prompting two major online bookmakers to restrict betting to Starting Price only in races where his tips are released.

“They fear smart money. They fear James,” said another long-standing member.

James has faced restrictions and bans from numerous high-street bookmaker accounts and in-shop betting facilities, despite this, his betting operations adapted, utilising a wide reaching network of trusted individuals to place wagers across the country.

“Yes, people double-crossed him. Some ran off with five-figure bankrolls,” They added. “But James recalibrated and built something smarter.”

The Race Reads Platform

Founded in 2023, Race Reads is a structured, insight-led betting group focused exclusively on UK and Irish horse racing. Members receive a limited number of carefully selected tips each week, each accompanied by in-depth reasoning and pre-race analysis. Unlike conventional tipping services, the platform is structured more like an educational resource.

“This isn’t about guesswork or hunches,” said Atkinson. “Every selection is the product of hours of video analysis, sectional timing breakdowns, and market intelligence.”

Alongside the tipping service, Race Reads offers a digital education platform — Betting University — designed to teach members how to analyse races professionally. Modules include:
  • Building personal odds lines
  • Race replay analysis
  • Reading jockey behaviour and body language
  • Bankroll and risk management
  • Bookmaker behaviour and account sustainability
“It’s a complete framework,” said one user. “It’s changed how I think about betting — and helped me stay profitable.”

Members have shared stories of how the platform has supported them, from funding family holidays and helping fund the launch of new businesses to generating consistent secondary incomes.

Atkinson, a full-time father of four, two of whom are non-verbal autistic, built Race Reads while managing parental responsibilities.

In 2024, Atkinson published “Blood, Sweat & Bets”, a candid account of the strategies, pressures, and realities of professional betting. He has also delivered talks at major venues, including Doncaster Racecourse, and continues to support initiatives such as the Injured Jockey Fund and Autism in Racing.
