Two hot new British designers, BoBelle and NV Calcutta, are showcasing their latest Fair Trade collections on Fashion Conscience, proving ethical accessories can be luxurious, high quality and affordable.

Fairly traded, hand-dyed and hand-made using the finest eel leather, BoBelle ethical handbags are created from by-products of the food trade in Korea. Eel skin is a unique leather that is characterised by its softness and durability, and will get softer with use. Designer Claire Watt-Smith was just 23 years old when she founded BoBelle, and the Entrepreneurs Network, Striding Out, has awarded her a place in the Top 100 Entrepreneurs. The brand has been featured in Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and Look.

The range of bags featured on eco-friendly clothing site Fashion Conscience includes the luxurious Hemera Handbag, the vintage feel Theia Clutch Bag with bow detail, and the pretty hand-made Gaia Purse. NV Calcutta is an ethical accessories company dedicated to bridging the gap between designer fashion and traditional ethical bag offerings. The London company, founded by Naomi Cornelius-Reid, is a mere six months old. Products are designed in Britain and ethically produced in Calcutta, one of Indias most poverty stricken cities, by a not for profit, World Fair Trade Organisation (IFAT) member manufacturer, using locally sourced materials and suppliers.
