Car Insurance Young Drivers Not Fit to Drive Alone

A recent online survey by Swinton car insurance has suggested that young drivers feel unprepared for driving at the wheel alone despite passing their driving tests.
This latest research from Swinton car insurance reveals that young drivers who pass their driving tests are experiencing as little as 30 hours of professional driving lessons prior to their examinations. Interestingly, the Driving Standards Agency continues to recommend that young drivers receive up to 45 hours of professional teaching at the wheel, including an additional 22 hours of private practice. As a result, Swinton car insurance is urging partners of learner drivers to provide their children with an adequate amount of private practice to obtain as much experience in a variety of driving conditions as possible. Steve Chelton, Insurance Development Manager at Swinton, said: Young drivers are particularly at risk of accidents on UK roads so it is vital that parents take some responsibility in teaching their children how to drive to help build their confidence and avoid any unnecessary car insurance claims. Another alarming figure from this study showed that 25% of all learner drivers had not experienced a single private lesson with their parents. Meanwhile a following 31% had only driven 8 hours or less with their parents prior to their examination. There appears much more can be done to protect young drivers on the road and in effect reduce the risk of car accidents and heightened car insurance premiums.
