Mr Cleese said ‘Twenty-five years on it is a little faded, and needs some TLC to restore to its natural beauty including some attention to the battle scars from a quarrel with a gate post the last time I drove it but it remains a fabulous car to drive and is the most beautiful car I have ever owned. It’s like driving a Starfighter. It has been utterly reliable and it also removed any sense of haste from my life. You don’t drive it, you guide it. Yet, if you need a moment of acceleration, the power surges like a battleship.’
The car which is currently in storage in the UK comes with service history Tax , 12 months MOT, and an exclusive invitation to have lunch with its illustrious owner! and can be viewed in Kent by arrangement with The Original Memorabilia Company.
For those with smaller budgets ‘Fawlty Towers’ car beating scene (when Basil gives his red Morris 1100 a damn good thrashing with a branch) has been captured in an official limited edition lithograph with screen stills from the BBC episode and they have been individually signed by John Cleese.
