Brighton Triathlete Launches “Start Now, Finish Strong!” Injury Prevention program
BRIGHTON, UK. 5th January, 2024 – PhysioFit Physio and Pilates Studio proudly introduces "Start Now, Finish Strong!" – an innovative rehabilitation program designed for injured runners over 40, offering a personalised approach to overcome reoccurring run injuries and achieve pain-free running.

Founder Alexandra Johnson, brings over 15 years of professional physiotherapy expertise, coupled with a personal journey as a highly experienced competitive triathlete. After graduating with a 2:1 BSc Physiotherapy degree from St George's Medical University, over a decade was dedicated to working in the NHS before a further 6 years in private practice with a focus on musculoskeletal sports injuries.

Facing extraordinary daily challenges, Alexandra battles with the rare vascular condition, Klippel Trenaunay Syndrome, affecting her leg and preventing more than 20 minutes of walking without the support of a specialist medical compression stocking. Despite experiencing extreme pain, reoccurring blood clots, muscle weakness and balance issues, she has travelled the world over the last 20 years to successfully complete the Marathon des Sables, a challenging ultra-marathon held annually in the Sahara Desert, covering around 250 km over six days, requiring participants to carry their own supplies, 2x 70.3Ironman World Championships and both the New York and London Marathons.

January 2017 saw Alexandra experience a shocking cycling accident in which her back, hip, pelvis and shoulder were broken after crashing on black ice during a winter training ride for the 70.3 Ironman World championships 6 months later. After frustratingly finding conventional physio techniques inadequate, she endeavoured to discover solutions to restore pain-free running for herself and others in the same predicament.

Leveraging her background in physiotherapy and competitive sports, (Alexandra) Johnson has championed creative rehabilitation approaches, recognising the limitations of generic methods for the 40+ age group. A more tailored and comprehensive approach emerged, forming the basis of "Start Now, Finish Strong!"

The "Start Now, Finish Strong!" program is an eight-week online course designed to support clients in preparing and repairing the body. It addresses both mental and physical fitness, rehab and prehab, joint mobility & strength, sleep, nutrition, and provides exercises to combat common running injuries. The program's efficacy is exemplified by success stories like Stephen Taylor, who went from the brink of quitting due to a reoccurring Achilles problem to hitting the trails pain-free within eight weeks. "Start Now, Finish Strong!" is not just a rehab program; it is a game-changing opportunity for runners who believed their prime was behind them.

Having invested over £10,000 in business mentors and coaching, Alexandra ensures that her expertise can effectively reach and benefit a wider audience, solidifying her commitment to helping other runners over 40 overcome similar challenges.

Alexandra Johnson explains: “I passionately believe that being over 40 does not equate to giving up on running or enduring pain. With the right approach, understanding, and techniques, individuals can not only resume running but do so better and stronger, embracing a new lease on life.”
