‘Story of an Indian MFI’ takes its readers through the origins of microfinance, sectors and models of their activity in India. It connects microfinance with skill gap analysis. Skill development is a massive challenge for growing young India.
This book proposes to build a technology ecosystem to achieve digital financial inclusion across rural and semi urban student segments of India to “gain credit for skill development”.

It highlights changing demographics across the country in MFI sector. The book then takes you to address social finance using a technology framework, a banking as a platform.

The writer has imagined that micro-finance sector adopts modern technology trends such as video interfacing, payments innovation and blockchain use cases to propel their growth.

The book is based on a documented effort of research activity that the author pursued during the years 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Ankit Sharma is a strong proponent of open source technologies. Upscale has actively worked with Grameen Bank’s open initiative called Mifos X and Ankit is regarded as one of the youngest Google Summer of Code mentors from India during 2016 and 2017.

A modern MFI with a strong backbone of blockchain use case, smart video interfacing has been modelled in this book.

Readers will find it interesting coming from young social entrepreneurs who have intensive technology background, having contributed to Grameen Bank’s open source technology as well.
