Producer Johnny Edward, recognised worldwide for the no1 hit ‘Save Your Love’ (Christmas 1982), a music career spanning decades and the man behind the much-loved ITV primetime robot character and show ‘Metal Mickey’, has a new single he hopes will bring back some of the musical magic of Christmas to 2015.
The song, ‘CHRISTMAS DAY IN THE MORNING’, written by Denny Terrell, tells of a girl’s special personal memory of Christmas and in particular, what made that Christmas morning magical.
“I loved this song from day one,” says singer Tricia Stewart, “and I was delighted to finally have the opportunity to bring something new to Christmas playlists this year. It’s been a delight working on this with Johnny. It’s a very different sound and such a tender song!”
Tricia is a London-based singer and actress from Scotland and, although having been in studios often for musical theatre cast recordings and assorted new writing tracks, is making her pop single debut with this original Christmas song.
Going slightly against the traditional noisy festive tunes, classic covers and these days ‘obligatory’ protest songs, ‘CHRISTMAS DAY IN THE MORNING’ is touching and sweet yet never rose-tinted.
It’s a reminder that Christmas isn’t always just about mountains of wrapping paper, snowmen and parties – sometimes it’s just about love.
“I yearned to record and produce a meaningful love song and Tricia has interpreted the song so beautifully. She sang without autotune and with such tenderness that it brings a tear to me eye whenever I listen to it.” said Johnny.
