Strathclyde Partnership for Transport selects TechnologyOne business systems to streamline finance and procurement processes

TechnologyOne, the enterprise software company, has been selected by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) to supply integrated financial and procurement systems. The financial system, which has recently gone live, includes general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipting. It will also generate all management and statutory information for the organisation. The procurement system will be used by 120 staff and will support a larger procurement improvement programme. Asset management and timesheets applications are currently being rolled out across the organisation.

The new TechnologyOne system will give SPT more control over its procurement function. The improved reporting facilities within TechnologyOne will provide faster and more detailed reports across the organisation. Month end reports can now be run in a fraction of the time taken by the old system, and the reports produced have much more detail.

TechnologyOne was chosen after a rigorous evaluation process. Neil Wylie, Director of Finance at Strathclyde Partnership for Transport commented: TechnologyOne is an absolutely solid product, it is very good. However, there was some stiff competition from other products. What really swung it for us was their responsiveness to our requirements, and the impressive reporting capabilities.

Mr Wylie continued: The TechnologyOne system is easy to use, for both finance and non-finance people, and it has a modern look and feel, but by far and away the biggest win for us is the reporting features. Managers now receive information on their desktops much more quickly and they are able to drill down to the detail behind the reports.

Joseph Slattery, Country Director for the UK at TechnologyOne, said: TechnologyOne concentrates on providing solutions that are powerful enough to meet an organisations need for accurate, usable financial and business systems, and yet are well designed and easy to use. As public sector bodies like Strathclyde Partnership for Transport come under ever more pressure to reduce spending, it is critical to have a system that provides detailed information quickly to support both day to day accounting practices and strategic management.
