SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, has gained accreditation to provide energy efficiency product certification to two countries in Latin America: Ecuador and Costa Rica.
SGS Brazil will undertake the certification process which in Ecuador covers the scope for air conditioners and in Costa Rica covers refrigerators and freezers.
This accreditation enables manufacturers and suppliers in the region to ensure that their products meet the energy efficiency requirements within the technical regulations and standards set by the relevant regulatory authorities. Only products manufactured in accordance with applicable regulations, which include energy performance, consumer safety and protection of the environment, can be imported and marketed in the respective countries.
On completion of testing, which can include laboratory testing, physical inspection and factory audits, SGS will issue a Certificate of Conformity for products which comply with the regulations.
