Search Techniques launches SELEKTOR II as demand for random search procedures grows
UK market leader delivers durable, reliable and cost competitive additions to growing range of random search process management devices as employee theft rises to 36%
Cheshunt, UK – March 10th, 2010 – Search Techniques, the UK market leader in random search procedure technology, has launched a new version of its highly successful SELEKTOR random search generator as demand for loss prevention technologies increases across retail, distribution and manufacturing environments.
SELEKTOR II is a pre-programmable push button unit intended for installation at employee exit points and will select at random members of the workforce to be searched by site security. The ruggedized, desk or wall mounted unit has built- in search and pass counters and input for external trigger signal such as Access Control Card Reader, Turnstile Rotation Contacts, IR Beam and CCTV triggers.
SELEKTOR II is the result of feedback from customers and part of an expansion of our portfolio to meet a surge in demand over the last 12 months, explains Derek Cozens, Managing Director of Search Techniques Ltd, From what our customers are telling us, the recession has caused a spike in employee theft and the issues around discriminatory search processes is causing a major headache for organisations of all types.
SELEKTOR II helps organisations to prevent losses, improve safety and security while adhering to best practice and negating common problems with manual search selection such as charges of victimisation, sexism, racism or stereotyping.
Recent figures from the Centre for Retail Research indicated the value of goods stolen from UK retailers has risen by 20% to reach £4.88bn in 2009. The Global Retail Theft Barometer 2009 report attributed 36.4% to employee theft, with employees responsible for high value theft, averaging £1595.66 per theft incident compared to £80.31 for external shoplifters.
Few organisations have the resources or desire to search every single employee, every time they enter or exit a building, explains Cozens, The introduction of SELEKTOR acts as both a practical solution and a major psychological barrier against employees engaging in theft as the risk of capture is much higher.
Search Techniques has supplied its SELEKTOR range of products to 8 out of 10 of the UKs largest retail chains, 3 out of 5 of the UK largest distribution and logistics firms as well as high profile cash handling companies. Jewellery manufacturers and precious metals mines and refineries.
We also provide advice to organisations on best practice and on the tools available to build random search into an overall security procedure, Cozens explains, In many cases, SELEKTOR is welcomed by site security staff as it stops them from being the bad guy as the machine has initiated the search instead of them having to make an arbitrary and often uncomfortable decision.
The entire SELEKTOR range is available directly from Search Techniques or through a range of authorised stockist including Regton, A2T and Insight Security.
