Ryder Europe has commenced the recruitment process for 10 talented people to join their 2010 Trainee Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

Vacancies for the trainee positions are at Ryder locations across the country, including Park Royal, Feltham, Avonmouth, Portsmouth, Stonehouse, Halesowen, Coventry, Fenstanton, Warrington and Dukinfield.

Selected applicants will be invited to attend Assessment Centres for evaluations held between May and June of this year. At the centres, applicants will undergo a structured interview, behavioural tests and interactive group assessments. The 10 successful applicants selected will start their three-year apprenticeship in August 2010.

We are delighted to once again be running this apprenticeship programme, which has been in place for a number of years. It has been very successful and because of limited spaces available, highly competitive. Last year, we received over 274 applicants and due to the current economic climate, we expect those numbers to be even higher this year. These young people receive excellent training. Many progress to become the backbone of our fleet maintenance and highly valued members of the workshop teams, who have the opportunity to go on and be our Managers of the future, commented Steve Mulley, Operations Director, Ryder Europe.

The programme is an excellent mix of on the job training in Ryder maintenance workshops and structured learning delivered through academic study at The City of Bristol College, Mulley continued. The trainee technicians will attend College for two-week periods, four times a year, with all costs met by Ryder. At College, they will study to complete the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Level 3 Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
