VIP-STREAM-100 Streaming HDMI Encoder Extends IP Video using H.264 Industry Standard
PureLink, a global digital connectivity solutions provider to professional and residential audio/video and IT markets, announced today the addition of a new HD video streaming encoder to its PureStream VIP line of A/V over IP products. The VIP-STREAM-100 provides full HD (1080p @60Hz) video and audio distribution over IP networks using the H.264 video compression standard. The H.264 codec is one of the most commonly used formats for the recording, compression, and distribution of video content, used in everything from Blu-ray players to internet streaming sources like YouTube and iTunes, to software like Flash Player, Silverlight and QuickTime.
The VIP-STREAM-100 is compatible with HTTP, UDP, RTSP, RTMP, and ONVIF protocols and offers live broadcasting via YouTube, FaceBook and other live streaming platforms. Using the H.264 codec allows the VIP-STREAM-100 to achieve high quality video with relatively low bitrates. The H.264 standard offers similar video quality to MPEG2 and MPEG4 but at half the size of those older formats. Its common use throughout the industry allows the H.264 encoded multicast stream generated by the VIP-STREAM-100 to be decoded with any H.264 compliant soft codec program, such as the free and widely available VLC Media Player.
The product can be used to extend signals up to 330 ft. (100 m) from a network switch and distribute A/V sources to any software-based decoder on the network. The VIP-STREAM-100 provides a convenient and powerful streaming solution for a multitude of applications, such as the house of worship, security and home distribution markets. The product connects directly to source devices such as PCs, cameras, and set-top boxes and can stream live video feeds to content delivery networks or directly to a computer or other device found on the network. It features convenient setup options for configuring H.264 stream settings and brings to market the only H.264 system that offers reliable signal transmission across CAT networks.
“We understand that the implementation of traditional A/V has added complexity when merged with IT,” said Keith Frey, Senior Product Manager at PureLink. “Our PureStream VIP solutions address these issues by combining reliable hardware with simplified setup, discovery and operation,” he stated. PureLink’s PureStream line of Video over IP solutions include IP Video extenders, combined with their intuitive VPX Control Server Software, as well their purpose-built VIP-NET 1G and 10G network switches, offering a complete A/V distribution and management solution for IT networks. “In the PureLink tradition, we wanted to deliver not only the highest quality design and performance, but also a worry-free, plug-and-play experience,” concluded Mr. Frey.
