What are the occupations that are in-high demand in Nova Scotia?

Nova Scotia province has its provincial nomination program to nominate skilled immigrants to reside in the province based on the labor demand in the province’s market, Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). Every province has its occupation in–demand list which mentions the occupations that are in high demand in the province. Immigrants who are having any work experience in any of those occupations can apply under the occupation in-demand program (OIDP) category

Nova Scotia in-demand occupation is in line with Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry. This program allows the Nova Scotia Immigration office to select highly skilled individuals who wish to live in the province permanently.

Occupation in-demand eligibility criteria for Nova Scotia province are as follows:

  1. Candidates need to have a job offer letter from an eligible employer of the province.
  2. The age group should be between 18 to 49 years of age.
  3. Must have the minimum required language proficiency for the province.
  4. Should have 1 year of work experience in the designated work field.
  5. Canadian diploma or certification or an international equivalent of same.
  6. The candidate should have the intention to live and work in the province.

There are two sub-categories in this program: Category A (For applicants with a job offer) and Category B (for applicants with experience in an opportunity occupation).

Category B is closed for Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry.

To apply for Category B following are the eligibility criteria:

  1. Must have a profile created in the express entry system under IRCC.
  2. Must have a score of 67 points or more on the Nova Scotia point assessment grid.
  3. Must have a job offer from an eligible employer of the Nova Scotia province for a full-time job at least one year after your pr visa is issued.
  4. Must have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
  5. Must prove language proficiency by having CLB 7.
  6. Show proof of funds for settling in Nova Scotia province.

Processing time for each application is different from each other depending on the cases, but on average it is expected to be resolve in 3 to 12 months.

  7. Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses NOC Code - 3012
  8. Licensed practical nurses NOC Code - 3233
  9. College and other professional instructors NOC Code - 4021
  10. Paralegal and related professions NOC Code - 4211
  11. Social and community service workers NOC Code - 4212
