Press Release: April 16, 2010
This news came as a heart breaker for all those people who were desperately waiting for the handset. With this report, several weeks of growing speculation and half-truths circulating over the Internet also came to an end.
The Nokia N8, also known as the Nokia N8-00, will go into the history books as the first smart phone which is using the company's Symbian ^3 platform.
Apart from this, the handset also carries a monstrous 4.0-inches wide AMOLED capacitive touch screen supported by 16M colours and features such as multi-touch input method, scratch-resistant surface, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn off etc.
Its specification list also includes a 12MP camera along with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, face and smile detection and xenon flash. All these features help its users to click some amazing and wonderful pictures without taking a lot of hassle.
Like any other smart phone, it also comes with features such as GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, 3G, Bluetooth, USB, stereo FM radio, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Nokia maps, digital compass and many other interesting features.
The handset was seen as a substitute for the ageing N97 model which is finding it hard to stay alive in the cut throat competition.
The specification list of the Nokia N86 MP Contract includes some very interesting features but still its fate primarily depends on how well the HTC Incredible, Evo, Desire, Sony Ericsson X10 etc.
fare in the market. However the handset is expected to release somewhere at the end of July but still one never knows about the Nokia mobile phones. They usually don't ship phones immediately after being announced.
