UK Convey clears up Stamp Duty Exemption

Press Release: April 07, 2010

UK Convey is updating their website regularly to keep people informed about Stamp Duty facts. Currently you are entitled to stamp duty exemption if the following conditions are met:

The property is valued at under £250,000

You are a first time buyer

A conveyancing Solicitor at UK Convey can clarify: "First time buyers must not have bought a freehold or lease hold property in the UK or anywhere else in the world. Also if you are buying a second home, intend to let the property or you are buying on behalf of someone else, you are not exempt.

An important fact is that when you are buying a house as a couple, you both should be first time buyers to benefit from the new Stamp Duty holiday. If either one of you had previously owned a house or inherited a property, you are not exempt.
