Toyota Car Insurance - Recalled Vehicles Could Push up Premiums Even Higher

Press Release: March 09, 2010

A voluntary recall was issued by Toyota for its 2010 Prius, Camry and Lexus HS 250 vehicles due to sticking acceleration pedals and floor mat pedal entrapment.

The initial attraction to these Toyota vehicles, most notably the 2010 Prius, was that they are economical cars. The 2010 Prius is a hybrid vehicle and therefore saves money on fuel in the long run. However, UK car insurance providers are within their rights to increase their premiums for cars of this type if they feel that there is a sufficiently increased risk.

Many Toyota vehicle owners are unlikely to recall their vehicles, leaving a percentage of these potentially dangerous vehicles on the road, providing an increased threat of an accident.

If consumers decide to leave Toyota and put their trust in any other makes of car this will have a severe impact on Toyotas finances and bottom line. Despite the media interest surrounding the issue, stringent safety tests and modifications are being carried out to appease consumers and repair lost trust in their brand.
