STATEMENT FROM THE FIRE FIGHTERS CHARITY

Press Release: April 07, 2010

Keith MacGillivray - Chairman of The Fire Fighters Charity said:

The Fire Fighters Charity would like to send its most sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of James Shears and Alan Bannon who tragically lost their lives whilst tackling the deadly blaze in a tower block in Southampton last night.

This tragedy highlights the difficult and gruelling circumstances that fire fighters have to face daily, which can often end with harsh consequences. Every year thousands of fire fighters are injured whilst carrying out their duties.

The Fire Fighters Charity will endeavor to support the families of the deceased, as they struggle to come to terms with this tragedy, along with the two fire fighters who were injured in the blaze. We will do our utmost to ease their pain and suffering wherever possible.

The Fire Fighters Charity is the official charity supporting injured fire fighters and their families. For further information contact Alison White on 01256366566/07816099380 or email awhite@firefighterscharity.org.uk
