With tragic gun violence in the United States of America once against in headlines worldwide, the call for reform has returned—and in Australia, Abbey Gardner is leading the calls with her latest song, The Playground, which explores and follows a typical narrative that creates such situations.
“After hearing so many stories about gun violence in America, I was inspired to write this song,” said Gardner today. “It follows the story of a socially isolated teenage boy and highlights the devastation that is caused by gun violence—and America’s need for gun reform.”
The Playground is a track from Gardner’s new EP, Shadows After 3, and showcases the young singer-songwriter’s vocal and musical talents, along with her inspiration by popular artists such as Ed Sheeran and the Arctic Monkeys.
Gardner is a rising star who already has an award for Songwriter of the Year from SongsAlive, a national songwriting competition in Australia.
