Seychelles and Kenya signed Tax Treaty

Press Release: June 16, 2015

Seychelles and Kenya signed an Income Tax Treaty on 17 March 2014. The treaty will come into force after the two countries exchange ratification instruments, and we will inform you when this is done. The provisions of the treaty will have effect from 1 January of the calendar year next following that in which the agreement enters into force. In accordance with the treaty, the following withholding taxes will apply:

Dividends: 0%.

Interest: 0%.

Royalties: 5%.

Combined with the Seychelles CSL (company with special licence) effectively taxed at 1.5% on worldwide income, the treaty can bring very significant international business planning opportunities for foreign investment into Kenya by Seychelles companies.
