Press Release: November 09, 2016
Securacom4security.com is calling on all households to have adequate smoke detectors installed.
Although UK law requires all new build properties and rented accommodation to have smoke detectors installed, the company believes there are thousands of homes that do not have detectors installed, or which are not in working order.
Graham Alexander, from Securacom4secuirty states: “UK homes should have annual safety checks because smoke detectors save lives.
“There have been recent news bulletins reporting house fires caused by a number of different reasons, including white goods catching fire.”
According to a recent news item in the Enfield Gazette & Advertiser, Barnet has the second-highest number of house fires in the UK caused by faulty white goods. Similarly, the trend for candles is also a contributing factor for house fires, and with Christmas approaching this percentage could increase.
“Nowadays there are no real excuses not to have working smoke detectors in the home. Moreover, my company, Securacom4security.com, is seeing an increase in interest for our monitored smoke detectors, because even if you are asleep, we will make sure you are made aware that your smoke detector has been activated.” Added Graham.
But Securacom4security is not the only company to offer monitored smoke detectors; there are several options available. Although Graham states when it comes to choosing the right supplier you must ensure that they are recognised by organisations such as Which? Trusted Traders, as well as other trusted organisations.
According to Government Statistics, there were over 490,000 incidents attended by fire and rescue services between and 2014 and 2015, and Graham believes this figure could rise for 2016 and 2017 if the news reports of exploding electronic cigarettes and smart phones are anything to go by. Plus, as the nights draw in and with Christmas fast approaching, the use of candles could increase also.
Graham also suggests that households should take advice from their local fire service.
