Recession hit families miss out on cashback billions

British families could have been £7 billion pounds better off this year if they had shopped online with Quidco, the UKs leading cashback website.

As Britain battled against the worst financial crisis in decades, its 17.1 million families could have earned themselves £420.86 each had bought exactly the same goods and service but simply having done so through the UKs largest cashback site - Quidco.

Each purchase made through the website earns a commission fee from the Retailer (everyone from Tesco to M&S to Apple), which is paid to Quidco, who then pass it back to the shopper in full, 100%.

According to the Office of National Statistics the typical UK family owns a number of everyday, household goods. Had these items, and the goods associated with them, been purchased through Quidco, each family could have made the following savings:

40% of families own two cars buying two car insurance policies and two breakdown policies with the AA earns £200 cashback
52% of families own a pet purchasing a pet insurance policy with Pet Protect earns £26 cashback. And every 8.5kg bag of Pedigree adult bought at Pet Supermarket earns £2.05 cashback
79% of families have a mobile phone a completed contract with Affordable Mobiles.co.uk pays £40 cashback, while buying a Pay As You Go Nokia 6500 slide earns £7.22 cashback
65% of families have a computer signing up to BTs standard broadband service earns £50 cashback

Families who switch their energy providers could earn over £100 cashback. EON offer £62 cashback for a successful dual fuel switch, while Scottish Power offer up to £110 cashback for a successful dual fuel switch.

Families spend 7% of their time on travel - a weeks self catering holiday to the Costa del Sol for a family of four earns £26.05 cashback. And the weeks parking at the airport earns £3.99

Quidco now offers cashback on the High Street as well. Their in-store cashback programme offers savings on more than just shopping; both eating out and trips to the cinema will earn members money.
Families enjoy 17% free time a trip to any CineWorld cinema earns 4.5% cashback, as does dinner at any Greene King Pub or Little Chef.
