Press Release: May 17, 2020
The ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic has claimed the lives of many key workers in the UK who have died in the line of duty. This has left many children without a parent / guardian. This in effect will leave many of these children and their families facing financial challenges in the years to come.
I am calling on the UK government to request that every child of a key worker who died whilst serving their nation during the Covid 19 pandemic should be offered free university education.
Providing free university education in the UK will be a constant reminder to these children that the ultimate sacrifice that their parents /guardians paid is truly appreciated by the nation. It will also encourage some of them to fearlessly embark on a university education despite the financial difficulties that some will face due to the untimely death of their parent / guardian.
My father passed away when I was sixteen, the year I was meant to enter university. I remember how my mother struggled to see me through university and law school, as well as raising my four siblings. I am hoping that we can alleviate such hardship for some of these children.
I respectfully ask the UK government to put in place a fund to ensure that the children of these national heroes and modern day soldiers can look forward to a free university education. This I believe is the least we can do to say THANK YOU
