Press Release: April 29, 2016
“Panama for me is a dream come true”, says Panama Relocation Tours founder and general manager, Jackie Lange. For Jackie, retirement havens don’t have to come in neat packages. She said that Panama used to be unpopular, but that this lack of popularity didn’t stop her from exploring that part of Central America.
“Before I lived in Panama, I lived in the Dallas, Texas area. I also had a lake house over in east Texas, and I have been a real estate investor for the last 25 years. But there was this one summer, I think it was 2008 in Texas when it was over a hundred degrees every day for 90 straight. Even at midnight, it was still a hundred degrees. It was so hot, I couldn’t even get out on my boat, so I decided I was sick and tired of living in a place that was hot in the summertime and cold in the wintertime, and of course I had really big electric bills to go along with all of that”, Jackie narrates.
She goes on to say that she did a lot of research and visited various countries in the course of 18 months. During that time, Panama struck her the most as the best place to live in the world. For Jackie, Panama’s low cost of living has enabled her to enjoy some of life’s luxuries that she may otherwise have not been able to afford.
In its 2016 report, International Living Gave Panama the number one spot as the best place to retire in the world. According to the report, Panama has become a favorite of retirees because of its affordable yet comfortable way of life, cool weather, and the various discounts it offers expats.
“I think Panama’s retiree benefits are the hardest to beat”, says 40-year old, Lindsay from Raleigh, NC. “As long as you can prove that you’re a pensioner, you can be accorded discounts in plenty of establishments. Hospital bills, utility expenses, restaurant bills, you name it - Panama offers huge discounts that enable one to save a great deal of money.”
After many years of traveling abroad, Panama Relocation Tours participant, Dennis Philpot, chose Panama as his retirement destination. “Arriving in Boquete Panama easily confirmed for me that that was where I wanted to be.”
Panama can be many things but it is the second home of many expats. According to a majority of retirees, they’ve picked Panama as their retirement destination because of its lovely weather and low cost of living among other things. Panama, is, for them, the place where they can live the life that they’ve always wanted and where they can enjoy a quality life at an affordable cost. For those who would love to know more about the country, these expats suggest a visit to Panama, so one can see first hand if living in Panama is the right decision.
