PL-1000E Demonstrates Compatibility in Heterogeneous Brocade-Based Storage Area Network Environments

Dec. 7, 2009 - PacketLight Networks Ltd, a leading provider of CWDM/DWDM transport devices for high throughput data, storage, TDM and ATM connectivity (www.packetlight.com) announced today that PL-1000E has been verified by Brocade Communications Systems Inc. as being compatible with Brocade-based Storage Area Networking (SAN) infrastructure, according to the testing requirements of the Brocade Data Center Ready Program. The program is an initiative designed to foster interoperability in multi-vendor Brocade-based data center environments.

PL-1000E is a unique CWDM/DWDM platform that provides maximum flexibility and scalability for fiber optic connectivity. The PL-1000E supports the full spectrum of fibre channel (FC) protocol rates: 1Gbps, 2Gbps, 4Gbps, 8Gbps, and 10Gbps. With its extremely low latency, low power consumption, small form factor (1U, ETSI) and affordable cost, PL-1000E is a best-in-class CWDM/DWDM solution for connecting multiple data centers or back-up sites.

Testing was conducted at the Brocade Data Center Ready labs, which are state-of-the-art facilities supporting end-to-end interoperability and performance testing of SAN products in multi-vendor and large fabric environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready Program boasts an impressive group of members joining the program since its launch in 2000.

Completing Brocade compatibility testing for PL-1000E is the final step in ensuring that this product is data center-ready. . PL-1000E can accommodate a full spectrum of fibre channel protocol rates, is easy to install and maintain and features low power consumption. PacketLights PL-1000E can interface with any storage device supported by Brocade switches. We are proud of the test results and are happy to provide an effective, low latency, high-bandwidth solution for data center connectivity said Koby Reshef, vice president of Marketing at PacketLight.

We are pleased that PacketLight Networks PL-1000E has successfully completed Data Center Ready testing with Brocade switches and directors in multi-vendor SAN environments, said Patric Chang, director of Strategic Alliances at Brocade. Storage area networks are being deployed worldwide at a rapid rate as a scalable, high-performance networking foundation for storage environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready program is an example of our continued commitment to delivering end-to-end interoperability to customers.

About the Brocade Data Center Ready Program
The Brocade Data Center Ready program is a comprehensive testing and configuration initiative designed to foster end-to-end SAN interoperability. As part of the program, testing is conducted in SAN configurations that include a heterogeneous mix of servers, storage systems, Brocade switches, SAN management and enterprise applications, and other SAN technologies. Brocade has created an interoperability lab featuring a heterogeneous SAN fabric, in which the company tests and validates partner equipment in specific configurations. Vendors receive Brocade Data Center Ready qualification after completing tests to confirm that vendors products meet interoperability guidelines.
