Press Release: October 23, 2019
Transport expert Novadata has issued a new addition to its popular range of transport compliance books in the form of the Company Car Defect Book, a 25 sheet A5 publication which ensures that the users of company cars remain vigilant and regularly report on the roadworthiness of their vehicles. This new Novadata publication is equally appropriate for use with electric, diesel or petrol vehicles.
Su Winch, Novadata MD, said, “The challenge for many transport managers is that company cars are often out of their sight for long periods. Unlike larger vehicles, which report regularly to depots and are required to have a daily vehicle check, the company car is more commonly based at the user’s home and is therefore not as routinely inspected. We’ve taken the principles of the larger vehicle check and produced a simple tick form which the company car driver can use to submit a regular report to the transport manager on the condition of their vehicle.
“While there is no specific legal requirement for the driver to give their company car a frequent, regular check, their employer certainly has a legal responsibility under Health & Safety legislation to be aware of any hazards in the workplace, and this would include any defects which affect the safe operation of a company car. It is therefore good commercial best practice to require drivers of company cars to report regularly on the roadworthiness of their vehicle. This new book provides a an easy to use framework, which takes just a few minutes to complete on each occasion.”
The Novadata Company Car Defect Book guides drivers through a simple tick list report on sections including fluid levels, fields of vision, breaking system, emergency aid, warning system, lighting, seating & seatbelts, vehicle accessibility, external condition and wheel security & tyre condition. The completed sheets also help to demonstrate to insurers that the entire fleet has been maintained with due diligence from the largest to the smallest vehicle with the same attention to detail and commitment to compliance and best practice.
The Novadata Company Car Defect Book and Novadata’s entire range of vehicle check and compliance books can be purchased online at www.novadata.co.uk.
