Digitalization represents an enormous opportunity for companies. Yet with the increasing interconnectedness of IT infrastructures there are ever more points of attack for hackers – while the volume of digital data continues to grow every day. Conventional IT security concepts are increasingly powerless to protect this data. That's why high-security protected areas of critical infrastructures in particular need new IT security strategies. The separation of networks is one such effective approach. INFODAS GmbH will present its solution for cross-domain communication at this year's Infosecurity Europe.
"The highest form of security is partitioning," explains Dr Alexander Schellong from INFODAS GmbH. "IT systems with critical information should therefore be separated from the rest of the company network within a highly secure domain." To ensure that a separation of the networks does not complicate communication in the company, automatic verification systems are required. The SDoT (Secure Domain Transition) solution from INFODAS GmbH ensures safe verification at the network transitions. The SDoT Security Gateway guarantees that only data which the confidentiality stipulations permit to be transmitted may be exchanged between the networks.
INFODAS GmbH will be presenting its entire solution portfolio for cross-domain communication from 4 to 6 June at the leading European IT security fair "Infosecurity Europe" in London (Stand: L140) – from the SDoT Labelling Service to the Patch Management System.
The highlight will be the SDoT Diode. It is currently the fastest software-based solution for data transfer in the high-security sector. With a data throughput of up to 9.1 Gbit/s, the Diode transfers even the largest data volumes at exceptional speed. "Under digitalization, enormous data volumes are gathered every single day," explains Dr Alexander Schellong. "Companies need to ensure that relevant information is available quickly even in sensitive, effectively hermetically sealed networks."
Separation of the networks is a security concept for military information. Today, more and more major corporations, small and medium-sized technology companies and operators of critical infrastructures such as energy grids use these kinds of high-security solutions. "It's a matter or corporate survival and in the case of critical infrastructures it is also a matter of protecting our society," stresses Dr Schellong.
Independent test laboratories have confirmed the very high security level of the SDoT Diode in collaboration with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and granted approval for classification of up to SECRET for the EU and NATO. The data diode can therefore be used to protect official confidential classified information, yet it is also available to all other users that require a proven safe data diode – such as critical infrastructures. The reliability and security of the SDoT Security Gateway have also been confirmed for different usage scenarios. The SDoT Security Gateway has BSI approval for classification of up to SECRET.
SDoT products are used around the world in demanding and operationally important scenarios in the public and private sectors. These include marine vessels, drones, satellites, mobile data centres in the desert, weapons systems, flight control, security operation centres and critical infrastructures (ICS).
