Press Release: February 22, 2010
Research from Continental Tyres saw over 6,000 drivers surveyed, with the majority of drivers who passed their driving test after more than two attempts were more likely to run through red lights, be prosecuted for speeding and get caught driving the wrong way down one-way streets.
Guy Frobisher, Director of safety, said: "Safety should be the priority for all drivers - this includes making sure the car is roadworthy before you set off and being aware of issues such as stopping distances being affected by weather."
In an attempt to combat such inexperience and naivety on the roads, particularly in the recent arctic conditions, Mercedes are providing their own winter driving schools with the aim of reducing Mercedes car insurance claims in slippery conditions.
It pays to remain vigilant with the wintry weather conditions continuing to lurk across the country over February. By preparing your vehicle and all mirrors, windows and tyres for the journey you give yourself the best possible chance of reacting to any sideways movement at the wheel.
