Men's Car Insurance - Male Drivers Most Likely to Have Driving Convictions

Press Release: March 04, 2010

The report reveals that male drivers are one-and-a-half times more likely to have a conviction than female drivers, highlighting one of the main reasons as to why UK car insurance brokers view women as a significantly smaller risk on the nations motorways.

20 percent of male UK drivers currently hold a driving conviction, from speeding to drink-driving offences and more, meanwhile only 15 percent of women drivers in the UK have been prosecuted.

Director of AA Insurance, Simon Douglas, said: "Whatever your age or sex, insurers take notice of driving offences, especially multiple offenders and this is reflected in premiums."

Although young male drivers are right to worry about the increasing gender gap, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Government-funded initiatives such as the Pass Plus scheme can help car insurers to build confidence in newly qualified drivers.

It is common sense that keeping on the right side of the law will ensure that you can apply for cheaper UK car insurance deals in short and long term future.
