Press Release: July 06, 2020
A Malton-based husband and wife team who launched their artisan pasta in the midst of the global pandemic and secured over 90 local retailers, has now launched an ecommerce platform.
Pasta lovers Kathryn and Tom Bumby launched the Yorkshire Pasta Company in May, just after the UK public was panic buying kitchen cupboard essentials due to the lockdown.
Working with independent retailers in the Yorkshire areas, the duo managed to secure listings in high profile retailers Lishmans of Ilkley, Fodder and Keelham Hall Farm Shop.
Keeping green credentials at the forefront of their business, the couple use fully recyclable packaging even down to the metal fastening that they designed themselves to avoid using plastic or solvent glues to seal. The Yorkshire Pasta Company HQ uses solar power, collected onsite and any food waste is repurposed to animal feed.
The pasta, available in Fusilli, Penne Rigate, Conchiglie Rigate, Tortiglioni and Mezze Maniche Rigate is made in small batches using locally milled wheat flour.
Kathryn, who studied Nutrition at Northumbria University, has over a decade of foodservice and manufacturing experience including in the Government’s Food and Environment Research Laboratories (FERA) and most recently at Nestle.
She said: “We came up with the idea of the Yorkshire Pasta Company on a walking holiday with family in the Lake District. The altitude at the top of Catbells must have gone to our heads because our idea of locally sourced, eco friendly and sustainable past was born. We are blown away by the retailer's support over the past few months and are looking forward to rolling out the pasta to the rest of the UK through our site.”
The full Yorkshire Pasta range is 500g each with a RRP of £3.50. The online shop launches is now live at http://www.yorkshirepasta.co.uk/
