Press Release: November 01, 2017
Snap Out, a digital product studio, based in Surrey, has been awarded a grant from the UK’s innovation agency. Snap Out has won funding through Innovate UK’s Design Foundations competition, to use design thinking to develop early-stage digital products that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), to improve daily scheduling processes.
Innovate UK is an executive non-departmental public body, with an aim to drive growth and productivity in the UK through supporting businesses, developing ideas and helping to make them a commercial success. The Design Foundation competition encourages businesses to use the design thinking approach to innovate and create ideas in line with customer demands.
The digital world is rapidly expanding, and the need for user-friendly digital products is growing. Digital products are products that exist on a computer such as an ebook or software. Snap Out has developed digital products in the past with integrated AI and ML such as a Emma.ai, a virtual travel assistant and Mima, a chatbot that assists social media teams.
Using design thinking can enable companies to create and deliver digital products and services that considers the customer’s problem and user experiences. Snap Out is excited to be supported by Innovate UK in using design thinking to develop digital product ideas with users. Snap Out will be working with two consultancies on the project: user-centred design experts at FutureGov and Growth Studio, which help businesses grow quickly and effectively.
Aaron Mason, Snap Out’s CEO says, “We understand the importance of building products that align closely with customer’s needs. This exciting programme will help us learn more about the problems and opportunities of our user research group. This is paramount for us to create early-stage products using design thinking and therefore rapidly build products that solve real and evidenced problems.”
The six-month project will end in April 2018 with new products being announced later in 2018. Snap Out will be sharing information on the project and what the team has learned on the website. To find out more about the project and Snap Out’s future products, please visit www.snapout.co.uk.
