Press Release: February 12, 2017
In partnership with French leisure activity provider Compagnie des Alpes, UK based tour and attraction ticket site CityXplora have introduced admission tickets for ParcAstérix - France's premier family theme park. Located 35 km north of Paris within Oise Regional Park, ParcAstérix first opened in 1989. It has since attracted millions of domestic tourists as well as foreign travellers looking to experience attractions outwith the capital's borders. This newly forged sales partnership between CityXplora Ltd and Compagnie des Alpes aims to market ParcAstérix to a wider foreign audience (particularly those in the UK and US) who may be unaware of the park's proximity to central Paris.
To coincide with ParcAstérix's launch on CityXplora, an exclusive introductory offer will be available between February 1st and April 30th. Adult tickets purchased at the full rate during this period will include 1 free entry for children aged 3-11 years. This offer is valid for visits between April 1st and May 1st, 2017.
Based on the internationally recognised French comic book series Asterix, ParcAstérix features around 40 major attractions, including roller coasters, child friendly rides and live shows. It's also equipped with 6 themed restaurants which can offer visitors full main course meals or light snacks and refreshments.
Key rides include the Goudurix, an adrenaline-filled, 7-loop roller coaster that reaches speeds of over 75mph. It's surrounded by a variety of smaller, family-friendly Viking-themed rides. The large Roman Empire themed zone houses the park's largest river rapids attraction - the RomusetRapidus, which can be accessed by all guests over 1 meter in height. The adjacent 'Gaule' zone of ParcAstérix features two additional water rides: the high speed 'Grand Splash' and the twisting and turning Menhir Express.
Oziris, the park's longest roller coaster, can be found the Ancient Egypt zone, while it's popular dolphin show and the 'Tonnerre de Zeus' is available in the Greek zone. The Tonnerre de Zeus is unique in that it's currently Europe's 2nd longest wooden roller coaster after the Colossos in Germany.
Speaking of ParcAstérix's inclusion on CityXplora, product manager Martin Mclean said: "We're overjoyed to be working with Compagnie des Alpes to help present this fantastic family theme park to an international audience. By implementing our current introductory offer and communicating the park's presence online we hope to sizeably boost visitor numbers and establish ParcAstérix as a prime Paris day trip destination".
Speaking of the new collaboration, CDA's International Sales Director FrédéricGouguidis commented: "We are glad to collaborate with CityXplora! It’s a great opportunity for us to propose our famous N°1 theme park 'ParcAsterix' through their network".
ParcAstérix is open most days between April and August. This scales back to weekends between September 1st and October 8th, after which time (starting from October 14th) the park moves into its Halloween season. The Halloween season, also known as 'Fear over Park' lasts from October 14th to November 5th (excluding October 16-20).
A key consideration for international visitors is how to reach the park from central Paris. The operators of ParcAstérix recommend two main public transport options. The first is a direct shuttle bus from Carrousel du Louvre, while the second involves a shuttle from Charles de Gaulle Airport - Terminal 1. The adult price of these services is €23 and €8.50 respectively. Tickets can be purchased from the driver at the departure point.
Visitors looking to reach the park directly from central Paris should make their way to the Carrousel du Louvre shopping centre (accessible via the Palais-Royal Metro lines 1 and 7). By taking the escalator located in Charles V Hall they can reach the coach park on floor -3, where an official ParcAstérix shuttle bus awaits. It departs every day at 09:00 and returns at 18:00 (19:30 on Saturdays and Sundays from 15/07 to 31/08).
Alternatively, visitors should make their way towards Gare du Nord and take the RER Line B to Charles de Gaulle Airport - Terminal 1 stop. Once there they should head to the 'Parc de Loisirs' desk where a ParcAstérix steward will guide them towards an awaiting shuttle bus. These buses run every 30 minutes, from 09:00 until 1 hour after park closure.
