Press Release: February 02, 2010

Speaking on www.georgedigweed.com, he says: "If I win another world championship as from this year I'll have won world championships in four different decades. So that is a massive thing for me to try and achieve."

Beyond his own career, George is keen to preserve the future of shooting for generations to come. The 2012 Olympics in London will bring British shooting to the fore and George is calling on the government to ensure that the games have a lasting influence on the shooters of tomorrow.

"The shooting tournament needs to be held at a facility that can be left as a legacy," he explains. "As we speak, the shooting facility is going to be at Greenwich. It's going to cost £24million to build and two days after the shoot they're going to pull it down at the cost of £7million. So there's going to be £31million spent on the shooting side of the Olympics with no legacy left at all!"

It won't just be an Olympic legacy that will help the shooters of tomorrow though; they'll also need the right attitude, and George says that honesty is the best policy in this sport. He concludes: "When you compete at the highest level, you've either got it in you or you haven't. My only advice for people going forward would be: be honest with yourself. Those of you who look for an excuse are never going to win."

George starts the new year by travelling to Johannesburg for the Pan-African Championships, which take place between the 18th and 21st February.
