“Fury’s Child” by Geoffrey Abrahams is published by New Generation Publishing
About the Book:
Geoffrey Israel Abrahams was born in 1933 in the East End of London to Romanian and Russian parents. A man of character or perhaps a character in this book? What is fact, what is fiction we will never know, he certainly did his national service in the RAF and some of the stories ring true from listening to him growing up.
“This book was given to me, his son, eight years after his death by my mother who found it in a drawer while cleaning out his belongings. The manuscript was typed by my mother Madelaine, 36 years ago on an old-fashioned portable typewriter, the ending however was still handwritten. Having read the book, I decided to have it published in his honour.” - Richard Abrahams
Set in 1951, National Service was part of life in the UK, a young man enters the RAF. During the formation of Israel, his parents killed a boy, now a man intent on revenge, discovers an awful truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly gripping!
24 April 2019
“Wow! This book, published posthumously after being rediscovered in the drawer in which it sat for 35 years, confounds expectations, and is much more than it first appears. Abrahams presents a vivid portrayal of life for a young Jewish man serving in the National Service in post-war Britain, while offering some insight into the brutality of the times during the birth of the state of Israel. Suffice to say he has more on his agenda than National Service, and is no run-of-the-mill recruit. For a first time writer with no professional editorial support (his wife helped him transpose from hand-written to type), Abrahams has not only handled his tale adeptly, but produced a page-turner! And who knew that although 50's Britain was still rationing some things, there was apparently no shortage of action for a soldier on leave?”
5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to put down.

“Recommended as a holiday read, I found it hard to put this book down. Geoffrey may not have been a ‘professional writer’ but he knew how to tell a tale (or two). Highly recommended.”

“Really interesting insight into a largely uncovered section of history. The unglamorous middle-ground made all the more intriguing by the fact that we are never sure how much is true and how much is fiction. For me, the most fascinating aspect was the casual anti-semitism. Choosing to look the other way every day must be exhausting. Whilst we live in interesting times; this is a reminder that unity is the only way.”
