Finxerunt 8-Time Finalists at Harvard’s Policython

Press Release: January 31, 2021

Finxerunt sweeps the competition garnering $1,200 in grants.

On December 12, 2020 students from the Policy Action Institute, Finxerunt swept the international non-partisan Improving Schools Policython hosted by Harvard University. In the competition students were pushed to address various issues in the education system, and present research based solutions and policy for them. In total Finxerunt sent 44 students from the policy institute to compete with the organization's research-driven education policy. There the delegation of Finxerunt was one of the most impressive policy-makers and public speakers. In the end Finxerunt became 8-time finalists and won $1,200 in seed grants and prizes, taking almost 80% of all prizes.

A list of the winning participants and prizes granted...
Best NPO Initiative - Chyonika Roy - $1,000 Seed Grant
1st Place - Alan Shnir
2nd Place - Angye Bardales
3rd Place - Kristina Lian
5th Place - Sarah Infante
Finalist Nominations - Ray Nobuhara, Tatyana Cruz, Stella Vayner

Finxerunt used research from the International Socioeconomics Laboratory in preparation for the competition, as well as their Educational Reform Campaign. Although Finxerunt has done research in the sector of education, the Policython provided students with new perspectives in creating systemic change and policy writing. All participants that are a part of Finxerunt have since sent out their policies to various officials and representatives of various levels of the government, in hopes of passing their policy. Thanks to everyone who participated, extensive policy will be used towards pushing better legislation in not only small communities, but beyond in creating a more equitable education system.
