LONDON: Mercy Worldwide Trust will be holding a special dinner in Birmingham on Saturday 6th June in aid of their orphanage project in Pakistan. The aim of the dinner is to help towards the cost of building a state of the art the orphanage between Islamabad and Jhelum which will be eventually cater for 500 children.
The charity currently has a volunteer, Amer Nazir who has embarked on an epic cycle ride around the world. The charity ride started in Luton and is planning to cross 33 borders and cover 12,000 miles in 10 months. The charity has already raised around £150,000 for this project.
Syed Fariquain Hussain (Chairman of the Trust) said ‘The aim is to build an orphanage which will accommodate those children whose parents have died, those who cannot afford a decent upbringing or those who have been abandoned in the streets. We will personally manage the orphanage and help orphans and vulnerable street children by providing support and protection through shelter, food, and education.” The dinner is set to be an inspiring and entertaining evening with a luxury 3 course dinner. There will be an amazing collection of special auction items including David Beckham’s shirt, Mohamed Ali’s glove, Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt and one of Manny Pacquiao’s belt.
Amongst the special guests attending the evening will be Qari Amr Elalimy who will also be leading Maghrib Salah. There will be special performances by Mustafa Zahid a Pakistani rock artist who has enjoyed a lot of success from his music in Pakistan with his band Roxen and Ali Abbas who is young and dynamic singer from Pakistan who has immense popularity all over the world by his outstanding performance on a talent show. There will also be a talk by Shahid Azeem who was recently named one of the Top 100 most influential Muslims in the UK.
