Press Release: July 10, 2020
Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce (DACC) have this week launched their ‘7 Steps to Personal Wellbeing’ virtual programme. The programme, consisting of 7 weekly sessions with key experts from across the region, will run from Wednesday 19 August.
Since lockdown started DACC have continued to support businesses through their Business Support and A Guide to…. Webinars but have also been supporting employees throughout this time with their Take a Break webinars looking at Wellbeing & Resilience, Nutrition, Mental Health and much more.
Their Virtual Programme will look to take things one step further by providing a support network throughout the 7 weeks where attendees can openly discuss any worries they have.
As lockdown restrictions begin to be lifted and employees return to work from furlough and home working it is imperative that there is support out there to help the region’s workforce settle back into what will now be the ‘new norm’.
The topics being covered during the programme are; Mindset, Kindness, Mindfulness, Volunteering, Resilience, Exercise and Green Space. Speakers from across the region include Jamie McBrearty, YMindset, Lesley Howells, Maggie’s Centre and Dawn Walton, Think It Change It.
Alison Henderson, DACC CEO said: “We know that the psychological effects of lockdown, tied to worries about job security and finances, and the implications of changes in workplaces, are likely to make work-related stress worse for many people. We’ve launched this programme to build a community of people who want to understand how to build their personal skills to weather the current storms but also appreciate the mindset they have and how to develop good habits to stand them in good stead for the future. It was important to us to bring in local people who have the skills and experience to guide us all through the range of emotions we may be feeling just now, and create a safe space for sharing lived experience of challenging times. This programme is for anyone working across Dundee & Angus who wants to invest a few weeks of their time in developing their own personal wellbeing and being part of a like-minded group.”
